What is erectile dysfunction?
Erectile dysfunction, more commonly referred to as impotence, is defined as the inability to achieve or maintain an erection sufficiently strong and durable for satisfactory sexual intercourse. The condition is widespread in UK and it is estimated that over 3 million men suffer from erectile dysfunction. The problem is not only seen in men of certain age, since over 40% of the men suffering from erectile dysfunction are in the age group between 25 and 45 years.
Erectile dysfunction and aging
Aging is the major risk factor for erectile dysfunction: in fact, with age the problem of erectile capacity increases as there is a deterioration of the circulatory and neurological functions. For example, as more time passes, it becomes more difficult for a man to achieve a complete erection, maintain an erection for long time and be able to repeat it in shorter time frames.
These difficulties are completely natural and cannot be defined as erectile dysfunction. In fact it only when getting or maintaining an erection becomes difficult repeatedly, despite of a strong desire to have it or being sexually stimulated, that there is talk of erectile dysfunction.
Why you suffer from erectile dysfunction?
The process leading to the erection involves several devices, which work together synergistically to allow greater blood flow to the penis and then uploads which eventually causes the erection. These devices are primarily the circulatory system, nervous system, endocrine system and the genital itself. If one of these four devices is not working properly, it can create a problem of erectile dysfunction. Intake of certain medications or diseases can also cause prostate erectile dysfunction cases. Erectile dysfunction is also associated with risk factors such as smoking and excess weight.
Finally, erectile dysfunction can be caused by deep psychological problems. Although the vast majority of men happened to be sexual defiance at least once, often during periods of high stress, we talk about erectile dysfunction as a psychological problem only if this acts influential on their sex lives of at least 6 months.
Treating erectile dysfunction
Erectile dysfunction is a fully treatable condition today, thanks to the advances made in recent years by pharmaceutical research. The remedies for erectile dysfunction represented by pharmacological solutions are much appreciated by men who suffer from this problem. They are very effective, since they act on first consumption and allow returning immediately to have a satisfying sex life. The drugs available today are part of the class of phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors and their trade name is Viagra, Cialis and Levitra. Also for some years now for the first time, a daily intake treatment has been introduced against erectile dysfunction which is known as Cialis Once a Day. These drugs help man to get an erection only when there is a sexual excitement and if there is no factor of sexual stimulation after taking them, the individual will not get any erection.
