Microgynon is a combined contraceptive pill containing a small amount of levonorgestrel and ethinylestradiol – derivatives of progesterone and estrogen respectively. Microgynon and high BP
Each high dose tablet of Microgynon (Microgynon 30) contains 0.125mg of levonorgestrel and 0.05mg of ethinylestradiol. These ingredients may not be suitable for you when you have high blood pressure. Experts have observed that a woman may develop high BP for the first time after she starts taking this double-hormonal birth control pill. So your task is simple and clear: tell your doctor if you already have high BP, or if you have recently noticed it after being on Microgynon contraceptive pills for a while. Your doctor may then keep you under close monitoring and decide on whether or not it is safe for you to continue with this pill.
